Meeting the One Who Watches
There is a part of you that notices your thoughts without being swept away by them. Learning to rest there changes everything.
Close your eyes and watch your next thought arrive. Notice that you can watch it at all. Whatever is doing the watching is not the thought — it is quieter, steadier, already here. Many traditions call this the witness.
Stepping back one inch
When a worry comes, we usually become the worry. The practice is small: step back one inch and say, quietly, there is worrying happening. You have not pushed it away. You have simply remembered the one who watches.
Do this a hundred times and something loosens. The weather of the mind keeps changing, but you have found the sky it moves across.
